Hi Lee,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I am the author of the PPP
code so I'll throw in my comments.

I and a number of my customers are sucessfully using the PPP driver on my
hardware (not the ethernut board).

The driver was written to allow access to GPRS through a particular GSM
telephone module (Sony Ericsson GM47) and I have not tested it in any other
configuration at this stage.
As such it is somewhat incomplete and has been released in the hope that it
might be useful but for any other application other than talking to a Sony
Ericsson GM47 you can expect to have to do a little work to make it go.

Having said that it is a work in progress and I am activly developing it and
working on new features etc.

Genarally the following areas need work:-

Authentication - Not currently implemented - I am working on this and one of
my customers has this working in a fashion it needs neatening up.

Option Negotiation - Not robust - Once again I am working on this, I have a
plan I've just not implemented it yet :)

Efficiency - Various areas could do with attention - Again this is in my
to-do list.

For your specific requirement, PPPoE:-

The authentication and negotiation issues noted above would need to be
sorted out.

The PPPoE RFC (2516) would need to be implemented, this does not look
particularly difficult and would fit the design of the driver farily
readily.

Regards,

Subject: [En-Nut-Discussion] PPP over Ethernet

Hello All,

I was wondering whether anybody is using PPP successfully ?

With the new PPP component, is it possible to use the Ethernut board as a
PPP over Ethernet adaptor ?
