[En-Nut-Discussion] About the asix ethernet controller

Hi.
I\'m aperuvian student of electronics, I\'m interested in building a  ethernet 
frame analyzer with teh asix AX88796L ethernet controller? if possible? because 
I read the datasheet and this controller has enough flags to detect errors and 
well the ethernet frame ca be analyzed with the atmel mega128 

Please if someone has a great idea which can help me please send it.
I want to do a network analyzer but with limitions to the tcp/ip only analize 
the ip address traffic and which protocols are using in the lan
