Lee,

Yes, I agree that it's interesting. For Ethernet or fast
PPP routing the ATmega may be too slow. But GPRS should
work.

No, and I do not know how this is usually implemented. But
I got an idea how it may work. Should be possible, but may be
complicated for some protocols.

No, but not a big deal.

Yes.

Yes.

Guess, this is RS232 with a few special AT commands. Ethernut
supports something like chat for Linux, so should be no problem,
if I'm right.
