       Thanks, Ralph and Harald,

        First idea was to use the USART to get awaked but this
source interrupt is only available in the idle mode, which draws a lot.
I will try the power down or standby modes with an external interrupt.
        I am asking these question because I am in the initial phase of
development, I have the main application code ready (SMTP client),
but I don't have a board yet.
        I am new to AVR (some PIC background) and also C is not my
favourite language, but I am trying to learn as fast as I can.
