My original JTAG-ICE came with an adapter board so you could use the
JTAG-ICE with the STK500 dev board. The headers were soldered on the
wrong sides of the board, so the adapter board had the wrong pinouts and
was useless. If your plug is backwards, it won't be the first time
Atmel has screwed up like that.
