Hello
I presume that your router has a dns server in it. You will get a ip 
adress form your router so you know who gave you your adress may be 
there is a fuction in ethernut to retirve this.
Also ethernut keeps a route table maybe you can use this. Else maybe you 
can reverse arp or something the router because you know its mac, that 
will not change.

Very possible i'm wrong just some ideas i got when i read your post.
