Hi Jerome!
The wiring you show is OK to connect a DTE (terminal/host) to a DCE (modem).
The modem-side wiring you show will NOT allow you to use ahrdware ahndshake,
because HW handshake needs signals to be exchanged between the DTE and the
DCE besides RX/TX data.
I guess there are some details to be looked at:
1) hardware: are you using Ethernut 1,2, or 3? if: 2 then which UART (0 or
1)
how are the jumpers connecting the MCU/level converters set/connected to
the DB9 connector. is the Ethernut REALLY a DTE (from the DB9 pin usage
point of view)
2) software: which async drivers are you using?

Betreff: [En-Nut-Discussion] Modem to ethernut conections from
PPPCapplication program
Dear All,
I am a little confused about the modem cable connections to be done for
establishing PPP using a US robotics modem, does the NUT os provide the
driver code for hardware handshaking using te UART driver.
If yes then how can I enable it in the pppc application code.
Am I right about the connections required between ethernut board and the
modem.
With the Ethernut board functioning as DTE -
DTE DCE or Modem
1 DCD 1 DCD----------- Pin No.s 1,
4, 6 of modem short
2 RX------------------------2 RX |
3 TX------------------------3 TX |
4 DTR 4 DTR---- -------
5 GND----------------------5 GND |
6 DSR 6 DSR-----------
7 RTS 7 RTS------------|
Pin Nos. 7 & 8 short
8 CTS 8 CTS-----------|
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Regards,
Jerome
