Ethernut is behind a (Cisco) switch. I attached a simple hub between Switch
and Ethernut to track down the traffic using Ethereal. I am not very good in
analyzing network traffic. But there is not much broadcasts. Most of the
traffic is the HTML traffic to/from Ethernut itself.
A friend of mine has the same problem using an Ethernut behind a dumb DSL
router in a small network. My own Ethernut behind a fli4L DSL router runs
for nearly a year now without hangup.
So my only idea is that there are packets which kill the Nut. Maybe some of
these damned Windows "how are you" or "are you may domain controller"
packets which are flooding open networks.
