Hello Basil,

avr-libc since version 1.2.5 supports the EEPROM functions for the 
AT90CAN128 MCU. You are very likely using the older version 1.2.3 which 
is part of WinAVR-20050214.

Please upgrade avr-libc or even better upgrade WinAVR to version 
WinAVR-20060125 or WinAVR-20060421.
