I don't think the configurator problems are caused by lua. So I don't
have anything (good) against lua.

kconfig for example does not neet much more than a small c program (a
modified version of dialog), some shell script, make and the needed
config files. Indeed, it depends on some more libraries lieke ncurses
for example, but ncurses should be available for cygwin as well.
