NutOs function names, as constant names, are different from Linux so 
rewriting is not an option, it is mandatory (and it seems that jiffies 
are in nanoseconds!). As for the algorithm itself, I don't think that 
the FSF or any other GPL advocate would sue for patent infringement :)
