Hi Daniel and welcome as a beginner :)

I am not sure in which direction your question is going, but I think you 
don't have to fear that the system is going to starve. I am not related 
to egnite and therfore can tell, that there are some big companies using 
this system.
Additionally new projects from Elektor will base on nutos even egnite is 
not involved with the projects.

So if you like the system, start right in and meet a friendly and 
competent community in this mailinglist.
