Hi!

If you use one of the newer Nut/OS versions you'll find "USART Driver 
Framework" in the "Device Drivers" section. Here you find some "USARTx 
Half Duplex" options you only have to define. As the ATmega128 does not 
support Hardware-DE/RE any port pin can be configured and used as it is 
software-emulated.
