npl31d.xsvf in directory npl-v16 is the original layout that had been 
done by Michael Fischer in VHDL. Due to a bug the memory bus at the 
expansion port is not working properly.

npl31d-expmem.xsvf in directory npl-v18 fixes this and had been done in 
Verilog. It had been tested by attaching a 32k SRAM to the expansion 
port. I've done this some time ago but didn't find the time to document 
it. :-( After your request I've been forced to dig it out. I'm happy 
that it helped.
