The intention is to have a single version only. The best way to maintain this would be to have a single file instance only. Who is able to setup the autotools in this way?

Also note, that the file serves two purposes. One is to provide the Lua interface to nutconf and qnutconf. The other is to create the command line version nutconfigure. May be splitting into a library would be better?
