I just wanted to have a look into this problem again.

In order to use the latest toolchain, I tried Michael's latest YAGARTO with newlib 1.20. Voilà, problem solved. Looks like something was broken in the previous release of the library and now fixed again.

Actually I used Michael's preview with GCC 4.7.0, but it contains the same newlib version. I'd consider this fixed again.
