There's 2 that we use with ethernut

Sony / erricson GM47  & Siemens MC45 both work fine
also look at Falcom , dont know about cheap ! though , it all depends on
quantity

in fact the ppp code origionaly coded by Mike Cornelous was based on work he
done using the Sony Erricsson GM47
you sould not have any problems using GPRS & GSM modules as the all are
based on the extended  AT Command set
for gsm etc , however do remember there can be up to 30 seconds or so
latencey in the data , this catches most people out somewhere along the line
, but it is dependant on the provider & system data throughput at the time.
