Georg,

An unregulated supply is OK, but it must be a DC type.

Many 9V power supplies drop below 8V as soon as some
current is drawn. This is the case when the Ethernet
controller is activated. Then the reset chip pulls
the reset line to ground and the yellow LED goes off.

If this doesn't help, your board may be damaged. Please
contact egnite to get a replacement. Best to send an
email with Basemon's output
