   Yes, Freeice is really a good job. 
   And here is another suggestion: http://www.unitronic.de/ftdi/ftdi_elektor.htm , the chip FT2232C with new Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engine (MPSSE) interface option.    Also I should say sorry about that the ARM port contains GPL code, although it is only some initialization code and hardware dependent definitions.
