In RFC 1122 (chapter 4.2.3.6) there is a description of the keep-alive
mechianism for tcp connections, but so far it's not implemented in Nut/OS,
sorry.

This is the only way I know to detect dead tcp connections, but that doesn't
help you very much at the moment.

Perhaps this keep-alive mechianism is a good candidate for future expansions
to Nut/OS...
