For those of us that use email readers on our PC/whatever (as opposed to using a
browser-based email reader) it's easy (with many readers) to have mail arriving
from different lists directed to different folders. For example, when I want to
read discussions from the En-Nut-Discussion forum I open the En-Nut-Discussion
folder. This prevents list messages from getting in the way of messages
directed to me personally - especially if I'm behind in my list reading :-)

Another advantage of non-web/browser based forums is that you can read them
off-line like when traveling by air (assuming you're not the pilot!), etc.

BTW: Is there an email based shadow of the AVR-Freaks forum? I don't read that
one very much just because I find web-based forums (relatively) painful.
