I created a few variations of the published testcase with
good results. Your patches seem to fix the issue. Excellent
work.

There's just one minor problem left. You enclosed the complete
NutEventTimeout() in a critical section, which may result in
unacceptable interrupt latencies. I'll try to solve this first.
