Yes this 8Mhz is not good, so you would need 16Mhz XTAL on AVR and SPI doubler on.... and just get 8Mhz....
 
Another interesting part is LPC2124 16/32 bit ARM7TDMI-S™ with 256K Bytes Program Flash, 16K Bytes RAM, RTC,4x 10 bit ADC 2.44 uS, 2x UARTs, I2C, 2x SPI, 2x 32bit TIMERS, 7x CCR, 6x PWM, WDT, 5V tolerant I/O, up to 60MHz operation 
 
Nice 2 UART, 2 SPI and 60Mhz!
 
www.olimex.com has inexpensive boards for it with ethernet, and its fast!
 
Also parts are available at Digikey for it also.
