[En-Nut-Discussion] R34 on Ethernut 2.1

Just out of curiosity and maybe to learn something about circuit design...
What is the reason behind R34?
According to schematics the pin 64 of the J5 connector is listed as ALE
if R34 is mounted and NC otherwise. Also the pin 43 of the MCU doesn't
seem to have other functions/connections so I was wondering why the R34
instead of normal connection.
