Nut/OS links against the applications that run under it, while Linux loads
applications at runtime and those applications use an API that the Linux
developers/copyright holders have expressly stated that using this API (as
well as some source code which is really just the system call numbers) will
not cause the rest of the application to be required to be GPL.  This
amounts to an amendment to the GPL license that Linux uses.
