Uwe,

Thank you for your reply. I'm on an ARM7, but without a JTAG debugger
unfortunately, so I've been resorting to printf debugging (UGH, I know!). 

Anyway, I'm now less concerned that it's a thread startup problem as opposed
to a TCP socket problem. 

I'm following up with another subject regarding that in which I'll detail
what I'm seeing.
