Fair questions.

This is a project for some final year students to do. I've not seen a
single project that does what I'm looking for - that is..

    Monitors the AMP (current) consumption on each individual socket
    and if there is a massive surge - allows for that single socket
    to be disabled. (ie - the "Soft" fuse / circuit-breaker)

I'm trying to build an all-in-one system for about $300 - complete with
power and environmental monitoring.

I've looked at APC (confusing web site), www.itwatchdogs.com - Better -
but would need multiple "current" monitors, epower.bellwin.com.tw -
don't seem to do current monitoring - and the translation to English
lost me somewhat...
