Lars,

I use a National DP83848 PHY on my print, I connect the PHY reset to a PIO 
pin. I found that setting the pull ups and resetting was not needed. I was 
having some problems, when I didn't reset it worked much more stable. The 
power up defaults were on the PHY were fine. Maybe you could try.
