Hm, on linux it's much faster (compared to my SATA disk). On linux a
ram-disk is a "build in" feature of the kernel.

Btw: I noticed the same problems that Nathan just described with MinGW
based tools (make or gcc). Compiling is _horrible_ slow with mingw and
indeed the problem is, that the tools scans several folders each time
any action is executed. I don't know the exact reason any more. There is
a workaround for that problem (by giving a parameter that enables some
search heuristics) which fixed this problem.
